4-day sale. $26.99 for 5L. Includes 5W40 and 0W40 which is one of the few BMW LL-01 oils (Pennnzoil Platinum Euro nearly doesn’t exist, Mobil 0W40 got revoked), and made in Germany.
UPDATE: So I went over to Canadian Tire, some more findings -
5W40 is actually not made in Germany but US, and only has MB 229.3, which is the slightly older standard. Couldn’t check 0W40 as they sold out, but I’m willing to bet that one has MB 229.5. Somehow 0W40 is not on Castrol/BP’s website’s datasheet.
0W30 “German Castrol” is no longer German, it’s made in Belgium.

Costco usually has it for $29.99 but only 5w30 and 10w30.. or the box of 1qt bottles for $32.

Yeah, the German Castrol with ACEA A3/B3 and German manufacturer approvals is where the deal is at as those almost never go on sale.
5W30 API is plentiful and lots of choices. I use Pennzoil Platinum in my Solstice which is $24.88 for 5qt or L all the time.

Interesting. For my Focus, I just look for a 5w20 oil that says it meets the Ford WSS M2C945-A standard.
So that means I can use a good quality regular oil or one of the cheaper synthetics.

I rarely see 5W20 in dino juice though, usually it’s just 10W30 or 5W30. And yeah, even the GTX 5W20 meets that standard. American and Asian cars are pretty lax with oil.
I prefer synthetic for the additional protection near end-of-life for the oil. A few bucks more every 6 months versus delaying inevitable expensive engine repairs.

If my car ends up needing expensive engine repairs, I’m selling it for parts and getting another beater.

Reminds me I need to go down south of the border to get some. Usually cheaper and comes in 5 quarts which is what the truck takes, no measuring!

Walmart - $13.99 for 4.4 liters of Castrol GTX. 5W30, 10W30. Goes into all my cars.
